GOOGLE DRIVE NOW HAS A DARK THEME THAT IS WIDELY ACCESSIBLE.
System-wide support for dark mode could extend the battery life of your Android phone or at the very least make the display easier to read in low light, because AMOLED screens are becoming commonplace even on the finest low-cost models. Although the majority of Android apps have support for dark mode, Google Drive and its web counterparts do not. But the company just announced support for the web UI’s dark mode, which changed that.
While significant UI customisation and theming are supported by Gmail for the web, dark mode is at least supported by the majority of other Google services. Drive, though, has long been a noteworthy exception. Depending on how you’ve configured it, the Drive app on Android can either automatically go to dark mode or merely follow system themes. However, dark mode support on the web has just been added, as per a Google Workspace Updates blog post.
When we first noticed dark mode on the web in March, it appeared to be a somewhat restricted rollout, and Google didn’t provide an official statement regarding the feature. The user interface (UI), which has an interesting blend of black, dark grey, light grey, and Google-colored elements, appears to have remained mostly the same from what we saw at the time.
The dark theme is currently being released.

Google claims in its release that consumers strongly desired the move, which should allow for even more customisation of the user experience. There are no upgrades necessary since the web user interface is changing; instead, the change should occur server-side. Once it’s available, Drive → Settings → Appearance → Dark you should have a new Dark mode option. Please take note that this new feature only impacts the file management view; it has no effect on standalone Workspace apps that you may access via Drive, like as Sheets and Docs.
The update follows closely on the heels of other Google Drive user interface modifications, such as the addition of a new mobile categorization system and an ever-present search bar. That being said, Google has begun rolling out dark mode compatibility for Drive on the web, although it may take up to 15 days to fully implement.
